You don't have to leave the property to catch peak fall colour at Georgian Bay, though it's worth knowing where to go once you're ready to. Fall colour typically starts showing at higher elevations around Blue Mountain in mid-to-late September, with peak colour across the region generally landing around Thanksgiving weekend in mid-October. Here's where to see it, starting with what's right at the resort.

The views you don't have to leave for

Family of four wearing helmets smiles while riding bicycles on a tree-lined autumn trail.

Station on the Green, the patio at Living Stone Golf Resort's course, sits with the Blue Mountain range as a backdrop, and by early October the surrounding tree line turns the round itself into a fall colour tour, whether you're playing or just there for the patio. Down at Living Water Marina, the shoreline along Georgian Bay picks up colour from the trees lining the water, and it's one of the quieter, less-photographed views in the area since most people head straight for the mountain lookouts instead. The Georgian Trail, accessible from the resort, is worth a walk or a bike ride specifically for fall, cutting through tree cover that turns into a proper canopy of colour by early October.

If you want to go further afield

A short drive from the resort, a few spots are worth building into a day trip once you're ready to see more than the property itself:

  • Scenic Caves Nature Adventures, a short drive from Blue Mountain Village (and walkable from the top of the Blue Mountain gondola), is home to a 420-foot suspension bridge that puts you about 82 feet above the forest floor, looking out over the fall canopy below. It's one of the more dramatic ways to see the colour change in the region.

  • Blue Mountain Village itself is worth a walk in fall, cobblestone streets and cafes surrounded by mountains turning gold, and it pairs naturally with a gondola ride or a Scenic Caves visit.

  • Pretty River Valley Provincial Park is a favourite for hikers specifically because of its maple forests, which means it tends to run especially vivid come peak season, with trails ranging from moderate to more challenging.

  • Nottawasaga Bluffs Conservation Area offers a rockier, more rugged take on fall colour, with crevices and cliffs set against the turning forest, and connects to sections of the Bruce Trail for a longer hike if you want one.

  • Eugenia Falls, in the Beaver Valley area, is one of the tallest waterfalls in Eastern Canada at roughly 30 metres, with a short, easy walk from the parking area to an overlook right at the top of the falls.

  • Hoggs Falls is a smaller, quieter plunge waterfall nearby, and the two are close enough that hiking between them via the Bruce Trail is a popular way to see both in one trip, especially with fall colour framing the water on either side.

Timing it around Thanksgiving weekend

Thanksgiving falls on Monday, October 12, 2026, and it tends to land close to peak colour across the region, which makes it one of the most popular weekends of the fall to visit. The Collingwood Farmers' Market is still running that weekend too, so a Saturday morning market visit pairs naturally with an afternoon drive out to see the colour at its best.

Planning your stay
