From the first conversation with Monica Distefano, one thing becomes immediately clear: she leads with warmth, intelligence, and a deep respect for the people she serves.

With more than 15 years as a nurse and 12 years devoted to the retirement sector, Monica brings an experienced, steady hand to her new role as Executive Director at Living Water Retirement Residence — but just as importantly, she brings heart. Monica lives in nearby Angus and is the mother of three children.

What Drew Her to Living Water?

Monica noticed a striking difference at Living Water Retirement Residence almost immediately.



“When you have an owner who has a vision and truly cares — and listens — it changes everything. When I meet with Larry, he brings up things I’ve said verbatim from earlier meetings. He’s listening. He processes it in his creative mind, and then it comes back out in a new way. It’s very different from where I came from.”

Monica’s leadership philosophy is grounded in something she has lived for more than a decade: genuine resident-centred care.

“It starts with getting to know people. Spending time with residents, spending time with families, really listening.”

For her, care isn’t a service — it’s a relationship.
